Don’t Speak :-Watch Don’t Speak on putlockerwatch.com,obviously a vast place, but the characters only examined perhaps five rooms in the home. Scenes would take them back to places we had already been (there was really no purpose story-wise for them to return). On top of that, this remote beach-side community with this one big eye-sore home on the hillside – well that entire conceit was destroyed when the choice to shoot the scenes with the large picture windows in the background – reveal a sprawling landscape of buildings/homes and were those actual resorts? In other words, couldn’t the characters have tried at some of those other dozens and dozens of houses in their quest for help? There are several animated sequences which overstayed their welcome. It was a nice way to set everything up and give a decent history – as it was used in the opening credits. But when these sequences are randomly thrown at us again – twice – in the middle of the film, they’re distracting. And on top of their ill-placement, we’re given a whole lot more exposition in the second and third animated scenes. They are completely inorganic in the flow of the film and while well-done technically, they are useless. The performances are all horrifically bad. Whereas quality films with worthwhile ensemble performances demand that you pick your favorite and point out the best of the best, then the opposite should be true for the smaller cogs in awful ensemble performances. In this case, Saras Gil as Michelle yells throughout the entire film. Michelle’s husband is the first to go, and so she embarks on a quest to locate him, including taking Doe (Liliana Cabal) hostage. She screams obscenities – all the while overacting – apparently attempting to reach the audience at the back of the house (it’s a theatre term for those not in the know). It’s an absolute relief when her character finally bites it. Oh, I’m sorry, I don’t want to offer spoilers, but really, do any of us care by that point? It escapes me at the moment, but Gil also has one of the most memorable bits of sad, inane dialogue in the film. I mentally made a note at the time, but now it’s lost. Perhaps it was Gil’s screeching, or the fact that – at that point – I was just far too engaged in the events on-screen. Ahem.
